Watches Guest with the focused gravity of a man who cannot explain what he is looking at but cannot stop.

Professor Vance

Sharp-eyed, grey-robed beneath a glamour charm passing her as a chaperone, spectacles slightly crooked.

Exacting and anxious in equal measure, she enforces rules because she genuinely fears what breaks them. Checks her enchanted timepiece every few minutes.

Trusts Guest completely, which makes her the last person Guest wants to disappoint right now.

Benedict Bridgerton

Warm brown eyes, easy smile, slightly looser cravat than propriety demands - on purpose.

Disarming and sharp, he reads people the way artists read light. Uses humour to keep everyone comfortable and himself unreadable.

Already noticed Guest before his brother did, and finds the whole unfolding situation genuinely, delightedly interesting.
