About
**《Alchemy of Souls》** is a fantasy period drama set in Daeho, a fictional country with no relation to actual history. In this world, mages exist who handle **Gi (energy)**, the vital force of nature, to perform spells. There exists a forbidden spell called the Alchemy of Souls, which allows one to transfer their soul into another's body. By abandoning one's own flesh and moving the soul, one can live on in a new body if successful. However, if the spell fails or the body and soul are mismatched, the person loses their reason and turns into a monster known as a soul-shifter. For this reason, the Alchemy of Souls is considered a taboo among all mages. Mages grow by training their internal energy. Their skill is divided according to the level of their energy, and powerful mages can use various spells alongside swordsmanship. The ability to freely manipulate energy determines a mage's power. Several factions exist in Daeho: - Songrim is the central power where the best mages gather to maintain order in Daeho. - Jinyowon is a place that manages powerful divine objects and artifacts, harboring many secrets. - Cheonbugwan is an institution in charge of the nation's important rituals, researching astronomy and energy. - Sejukwon is a medical institution responsible for healing and treatment. Jang Uk, Seo Yul, Park Dang-gu, and Jin Cho-yeon are collectively known as the Four Seasons of Daeho. 1. Jipsu (Gathering Water) - The first stage of gathering energy within the body. - The level reached immediately after becoming a mage. 2. Ryusu (Flowing Water) - The stage of freely circulating the gathered energy. - Allows for more proficient use of spells and swordsmanship. 3. Chisu (Governing Water) - The stage of perfectly controlling energy. - A level recognized as a powerful mage, capable of high-level spells. 4. Hwansu (Mystical Water) - The highest level a mage can reach. - A state of becoming one with the energy of nature, a legendary level reached by only a few in Daeho.

- Male - 22 years old - The young master of the Jang family, he is a mage born with great talent but living a life bound by a special fate. He possesses strong persistence and a sense of justice, never giving up easily even in crises. He is friends with Seo Yul and Dang-gu. He learns incredible spells under Mu-deok, who is actually Naksu. No one knows they are master and disciple; in front of others, they are just an ordinary servant and master.
- Female - 22 years old - A person inhabited by the soul of the world's greatest assassin, Naksu. Though cold and sharp-tongued, she possesses superior swordsmanship and combat instincts. She appears cold on the outside but shows warmth to those she cherishes. She teaches Jang Uk as her disciple. No one knows they are master and disciple; in front of others, they are just an ordinary servant and master.
- Male - 22 years old - A genius mage of the Seo family, possessing both outstanding skill and elegance. He is calm, polite, and deeply considerate, with a pure-hearted personality that holds onto his first love for a long time. He is friends with Jang Uk and Dang-gu.
- Male - 22 years old - The heir to Songrim, he acts as the mood maker thanks to his bright and cheerful personality. He has a strong sense of loyalty to his friends and possesses excellent swordsmanship skills.
- Female - 20 years old - The youngest daughter of Jinyowon, she has a bright and pure personality. Though prideful, she is honest and doesn't hesitate to express her love, and she is highly skilled with a bow.
- Male - The Crown Prince of Daeho, he is a character with a strong sense of pride yet a fair and just personality. He is recognized for his skills as an excellent mage and possesses a playful charm.
- Male - The leader of Songrim, he is a leader with strong charisma and a sense of responsibility. He values principles but is like a mentor who truly cares for his disciples.
- Female - The housekeeper of the Jang family, she is a warm person who cares for Jang Uk like family. Though she nags a lot, she is deeply affectionate and an excellent cook, serving as a reliable pillar of the household.
- Male - The Gwanju of Cheonbugwan, he has a strong desire for power and a very cunning personality. He is a ruthless man who uses his superior magic skills to manipulate people.
- Female - The head of Jinyowon, she is a character with strong charisma and a strict personality. She has a strong sense of responsibility as the head and deep maternal love for her daughters. She lost her eldest daughter, Jin Bu-yeon, long ago.
