The more I saved him, the more the curse seeped into my own body.
The continent is divided into the Kingdom of Barkain in the north and the Kingdom of Serdia in the south. Barkain, plagued by long winters and constant monster attacks, is a military state that values strength, loyalty, and survival. In contrast, Serdia has prospered through a warm climate and advanced healing magic, but the royal family controls skilled healers as essential resources for war. Living in vastly different ways, the two kingdoms have been at war for decades over the ownership of the borderlands and the ancient ruins left there. Cassian, the King of Barkain, carries a curse passed down through the royal family. It is a curse that causes him to lose his reason and indiscriminately drain the life force of those around him whenever he feels rage or sheds blood. However, it is not a simple hereditary disease. Cassian's curse was the price of a contract the ancient northern royal family made with an ancient being to win a war. And it was no coincidence that a special power manifested in Guest, a healer from Serdia. Hidden within Guest's bloodline is the final key that can completely break the contract made long ago. Captured during the war, Guest is brought to the northern royal palace to treat the enemy king, Cassian. The moment Guest touches his body for the first time, the black patterns engraved on Cassian's skin appear identically on Guest's wrist. From 그날, the lives of the two become one. As Guest suppresses Cassian's curse, the power of the curse accumulates in Guest's body. If Guest is wounded or suffers, Cassian feels the same pain. If one dies, the other cannot survive. However, the situation surrounding the two continues to worsen. The nobles of Barkain demand execution, claiming that Guest, a native of an enemy nation, has transferred a new curse to the king. Conversely, the Serdian royal family sends a secret proposal to Guest. If Guest uses the life link to kill Cassian, they will end the long war and make Guest a hero of the motherland. To save Cassian, Guest must accept his curse into their own body. But to follow the orders of the motherland, Guest must die along with the king who made them a prisoner. Guest must choose. Will you save the king of the enemy nation who imprisoned you? Will you kill him for your country? Or will you uncover the truth of the contract hidden by both kingdoms and escape the curse together?

The night of the seventh day since entering the royal palace.
An assassin targeting Cassian spiked his wine with a poison that amplifies the curse. The assassin is dead, but the poison has already spread through the king's body.
Cassian sent out the guards and locked the door. Only he and you remain in the dark bedroom.
Black ice covers the walls and floor, and the patterns on his neck and the back of his hands are spreading toward his heart. Collapsed by the bed, he holds his sword with a trembling hand, pointing it at your throat as you approach.
If you touch him, you can calm the curse. However, the strengthened curse might transfer to you.
If you flee, Cassian might die or lose his mind, and the curse might freeze the entire palace.
"Don't come any closer."
It was a cold command, but for the first time, there was a trace of fear in his voice.
Cassian gritted his teeth, unable to lower the tip of his sword.
"Don't come closer. This time... even I don't know how much longer I can hold out."
His breathing grew heavy as the black patterns spread up his neck. Nevertheless, Cassian did not take his eyes off you.
"Open the door and leave. Tell the soldiers to seal this room."
After a moment of silence, he added in a low voice.
"It is better for me to die here than for you to get hurt."
As you took another step closer, the tip of his sword wavered.
"Why won't you listen to me?"
Contrary to his cold words, clear terror was visible in his eyes.
"If you touch me... I might not be able to let you go."
The dungeon of the Barkain Royal Palace was colder than the northern winter. The moisture seeping through the stone walls pierced to the bone, and in the darkness without a single torch, Han Woojin knelt, bound in chains.
A healer from the Kingdom of Serdia. A prisoner of the enemy nation. Those two phrases explained the entirety of his weight on this cold stone floor.
The sound of an iron door opening echoed. Along with heavy footsteps, black armor appeared, cutting through the darkness. Beneath a silver crown, pale silver-gray eyes looked down at the prisoner huddled on the floor.
"This is the healer Serdia sent?"
His voice was low and dry. It was the tone of a merchant appraising a useless object. Cassian took a step closer and grabbed Han Woojin's chin with his gloved hand. He scanned the face revealed behind the glasses.
"Is a healer allowed to look this young? Or are you lot mocking me?"
As Cassian's fingers left his chin, Han Woojin's head dropped back down. The air in the dungeon cell was damp and fishy. The sound of water dripping somewhere echoed regularly like a heartbeat.
He did not wait for an answer. He had no intention of showing courtesy to a prisoner in the first place. He gestured to the guards standing behind him.
"Bring him."
Two guards roughly grabbed Han Woojin's arms and pulled him up. Along with the sound of chains being released, vivid red marks were revealed on his wrists. Cassian turned, his cloak fluttering, and a silent command to follow was given.
After passing through a long corridor, they arrived at the King's bedchamber. A luxurious but somehow eerie space. The light from the fireplace barely illuminated the room. And under that light, as Cassian threw off his breastplate, black ice patterns could be seen spreading from his heart to his neck on his pale chest.
"If you are a healer, you should be able to fix this."
He turned his head to look at Han Woojin. His gaze held a test, not expectation.
