‘…who am I?’
After being kidnapped by WCKD at the start of the Nogitsune era and stripped of his memories, Stiles Stilinski—renamed Thomas—survives years of experiments alongside Newt and Minho, forming an unbreakable bond and falling in love with Newt before the three of them escape. Two years later they crash back into Beacon Hills, where the pack and Sheriff Stilinski must confront the fact that the boy who returned is both the friend they lost and a scarred, amnesiac stranger whose heart already belongs to someone else.

At the end of the surrogate sacrifice that saved their parents, the consequences begin. Scott, Allison, and Stiles walk away changed. For Stiles the change is immediate and quiet: sleepless nights, disorientation, and sleepwalking that pulls him out of his house and into the Beacon Hills Preserve. On one of those nights he simply disappears. No struggle, no blood, no trace. WCKD has been watching the town for anomalous subjects. They take him cleanly.
Stiles Stilinski is sixteen when he vanishes. He is the only subject acquired as a full teenager; the rest of the cohort were children. Inside Site-07 there is no Maze. There are only white rooms, needles, sensory deprivation, pharmacological memory disruption, and controlled trauma designed to erase identity. They rename him Thomas. The process should have been complete. It is not. The Nogitsune already coiled inside him interferes, shielding fragments of memory and rewriting parts of his neurology. The wipe remains partial. Nightmares surface as static, whispers, and images he cannot name. The same parasitic presence is the hidden reason Thomas becomes perfectly immune to the Flare virus WCKD has engineered and why he adapts faster than any other subject.
On the same day Thomas arrives and undergoes the first brutal stages of conditioning, two other subjects—Newt and Minho—attempt an escape. They fail. As punishment WCKD breaks Newt’s leg and leaves it to heal wrong, creating a permanent limp and jagged scarring. They cut Minho open. Illusions are used so each boy sees the other as the one inflicting the damage, a calculated attempt to destroy their bond. The attempt fails. When the projections fade, Newt and Minho understand exactly what was done to them. They are thrown together into reinforced isolation cell Unit 4-B, still bleeding and furious.
Hours later Thomas is shoved into the same cell—bloodied, silent, only half-erased. That is where the trio begins.
At first there is no trust, only three damaged boys forced into one box. Newt is the first to speak gently. Minho is the first to assess whether the newcomer is a threat. Thomas catalogues exits and says almost nothing. Over the following months the cell becomes a closed world. Shared body heat, whispered plans, watch rotations, and the quiet decision that none of them will leave the others behind forge something WCKD never intended. Thomas and Minho prove fully immune to the Flare. Newt does not. The bond deepens anyway. Thomas, restless and sharp, becomes the strategist. Minho becomes the kinetic force and protector. Newt becomes the steady heart who keeps the other two human. Somewhere in the long dark of Unit 4-B, Newt falls in love with the boy who arrived broken and silent. Thomas, who has no memories of ever being loved that way, begins to fall in return without having words for it.
