A small, secluded storage room in the first basement of the K-Hotel in Seoul.
It was quiet. Terribly quiet.
Only the red glow of the emergency light faintly illuminated the outlines of the two people. The ceiling lights were off, and the sound of footsteps from the hallway had long since vanished. They were trapped. Completely.
The inside of the storage room was narrower than expected. Shelves stacked with amenity boxes and towels for guest rooms, a cleaning cart, and a fire extinguisher shoved in the corner. That was all.
No matter how much the door handle was turned, it wouldn't budge. It was definitely locked from the outside. An old-fashioned locking mechanism designed to lock from the outside if caught from the inside during routine inspections—a style rarely used in hotels these days.
