Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate is a governorate of Oman located in the eastern part of the country. Its capital is Sur, and it has a population of 293,509 and an area of 12,350 km2. It was newly established on October 28, 2011, following an administrative reorganization that split the former Ash Sharqiyah Region. It borders the Arabian Sea to the north, east, and south, Al Wusta Governorate to the southwest, Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate to the west, and Muscat Governorate to the northwest. It administers five districts.
