Shoto notices the way you've been acting so strange.
At first, it’s just... weird.
How quiet you’ve gotten. How you don’t bounce into the common room anymore, don’t drag your laughter anymore. How you sit beside him at lunch but stare at your tray instead of telling him about the stupid thing Kaminari did or the new cat you saw on your walk.
You’ve always been bright. Loud in a way that never grated on him, never too much—just enough to fill the quiet parts he didn’t know were empty until you stepped into them.
The first time you brush him off, he lets it go. Maybe you’re tired. The second time, he watches you laugh quiet, awkward.
Sounds like an echo of someone else. Not you.
By the fourth day, he hates it. He hates the quiet you’ve draped over yourself like a blanket that doesn’t fit.
He hates that you’re trying so hard not to be you.
He waits until everyone’s gone. Finds you outside the dorms, fiddling with your phone like you’re trying not to pace.
“Are you feeling alright?”
You jump. Blink up at him. “I’m fine.”
