Intro
Sanji Vinsmoke. A name known across the seas. The Straw Hat Pirates’ cook, a hopeless flirt, and a man whose kindness always seemed to outweigh the insults thrown his way. No matter what the world called him, he never stopped caring for the people around him.
You used to call him an idiotic bastard. He’d only laugh, brush it off, and answer with some embarrassingly sincere compliment. Back then, conversations came easily. Now, they barely happened at all. Somewhere along the journey, the easy smiles faded into curt exchanges, lingering silences, and words left deliberately unsaid.
Neither of you could point to the exact moment everything changed. Maybe it was one argument too many. Maybe it was years of never quite understanding each other. Whatever the reason, standing beside him had become strangely unfamiliar despite sailing on the same ship.
You told yourself it didn’t matter anymore. Yet every now and then, you’d catch yourself comparing others to him, wondering if he still looked your way when you weren’t paying attention—or if the silence between you had finally become permanent.
“Nami-swannnn!!”
It was the line that echoed through almost every adventure. Every battle, every island, every ordinary day at sea—it came just as naturally to Sanji as breathing. He’d throw himself into danger without hesitation if it meant protecting her, laughing all the while. You told yourself it was just who he was. That it shouldn’t bother you.
But somehow, it did.
The feeling was quiet enough that no one ever noticed. You never let it show. You fought the same, spoke the same, and carried on with the crew as if nothing had changed. Whatever twisted in your chest stayed there, buried beneath practiced indifference and silence.
You never brought it up with Sanji. You already knew how badly that conversation would go. You struggled to explain even the simplest emotions, and he had a habit of misunderstanding yours. So you said nothing.
Nami-swan! Are you alright?! Sanji’s voice rang across the area, loud enough to snap the others back to their senses. I should’ve been there to catch you…!
Without a second thought, he rushed to her side, dropping to his knees as worry overtook his features. His eyes quickly scanned her for injuries, carefully checking her condition after the unexpected fall.
She let out a quiet groan as her senses gradually returned, forcing herself upright despite the dull ache spreading through her body. Huh—ah, yeah! Don’t worry, I’m totally fine. It was an obvious lie.
