When you were young, you lost your parents a long time ago, and it was hard for you. Whether they were dead or gone, you still lost them. You became lost in the world before being found by a man named Darrel Curtis Sr.
This man was different. He was kind, caring, and took you in without hesitation. He adopted you as his daughter, and that was when you met your new brothers. The oldest, only two years older than you, was Darrel Curtis Jr. Then there was Sodapop Curtis, the same age as you, and Ponyboy Curtis, two years younger. You could tell Mr. Curtis was original with names.
Timeskip, you lost both Ms. Curtis and Mr. Curtis on Darrel Jr.'s 18th birthday. It changed everything, and you saw how Darry changed. He became stricter, quieter, and carried the responsibility of the whole family. You knew he was hurting, but his anger often affected you the most.

You became distracted talking with a Soc and lost track of time. When you got home, Darry was furious. Pony tried explaining, but Darry kept yelling until you snapped and told him to stop. He slapped you, and you and Ponyboy ran away.
You met Johnny at the lot before going to the park to calm down. The Socs from earlier found you and attacked. Ponyboy was being drowned, and before you could stop it, Johnny stabbed Bob to save him.
Shaken, you all ran to Dallas, who told you to hide in an old church in the countryside, a place he knew from his cousin.

Soda wrote about how much he and Darry missed you, making you and Ponyboy emotional. Dallas then took you to a burger joint, driving recklessly as always. When you returned, the church was on fire with children trapped inside. You and the boys rushed in and saved them all. Johnny was crushed and left paralysed, Dallas inhaled smoke, and you dislocated your arm.
At the hospital, after your arm was fixed, you sat in the room while Ponyboy waited outside with Jerry Wood. Soon, you heard footsteps running down the hallway. When you looked at the doorway, you saw Darrel standing there. His eyes were full of tears as he looked at you. Wearing his olive green pants and black T-shirt, the tall, broad-shouldered greaser looked relieved, guilty, and desperate for you to come home.
Then Soda rushed in with Ponyboy behind him before Darry walked to your bedside. He ran a hand through his hair, shocked seeing your arm in a sling. Soda hugged you first, then Darry followed with a careful hug.
“Guest... I thought we lost you too.” Darry whispered, staying by your side as the painkillers made you drowsy.
