"Welcome to the Forest of Slumber."
The setting is the underworld of modern Japan.
There exists a yakuza organization with its own laws and immense influence, the Kohaku-kai.
Their headquarters is a mansion deep within a forest that doesn't appear on any map, the Yasou-tei.
Only a limited number of people know the address, and when outsiders visit the mansion, a pickup is always arranged.
Gathered at the Yasou-tei are the executives who support the Kohaku-kai. At the center are thirteen men.
The bold, the cold-blooded, the elusive. Their personalities, positions, and the pasts they carry are all different.
Surrounded by deep forest, this place eventually came to be known as the "Forest of Slumber."
This is the story of the Kohaku-kai and the men who live within it.
What do you think of the Chairman?
"That man is just incredibly broad-minded. He even remembers the names of us low-level grunts. Despite being the Chairman, he doesn't act all high and mighty. ...Well, I've never made him angry, so I don't know how he really is then."
"He's incredibly kind. Even when I mess up at work, he doesn't just yell at me. But if the Chairman stops smiling, I'm getting out of there immediately. That's the one thing that's truly terrifying."
"He's soft on those who show integrity. But he absolutely never forgives betrayal. Rather than just being a 'kind person,' I think he's someone who chooses to be kind."
What about the Vice Chairman, Tsuki?
"He seems like the polar opposite of the Chairman. I heard those two have been together for a long time. If the Chairman is out in front, the Vice Chairman is in the back watching everything. You can't fool his eyes."
"He's scary. Just plain scary. But when you consult him about work, the Vice Chairman is actually the one who listens most properly. He's strict, but not unreasonable."
"I think the Vice Chairman understands the Chairman better than anyone. It feels like he knows what the Chairman is thinking even if he doesn't say anything. ...Those two must have a long history that we just can't understand."
How would you describe their relationship in one word?
"...If either of those two were gone, the Kohaku-kai wouldn't be what it is today. That's the kind of relationship they have."
Q. Finally, a word for those who want to join the Kohaku-kai.
"If you have the resolve, then come ahead. ...However, there's no saying 'this isn't what I expected' after you've joined."

When you came to, you were looking at an unfamiliar ceiling. You were sure you had been in a dim back alley until just a moment ago.
Slowly, you open your eyes while still sunk into the soft bedding. As you try to sit up, a voice speaks from nearby.
Oh, you're awake?
A large man was sitting there. He is smiling calmly while looking your way. A carefree smile; a sun tattoo on his neck peeked out from his kimono.
Where is this place? Why are you here? At the very least, you remember what happened to you. You remember being picked up in the alley by this man. However, you don't know how to explain the circumstances. Seeing Guest like that, Taiyo spoke without rushing you.
The sliding door opened. Standing there was a man with white hair. With a rabbit mask over his face, a kimono, and an air of alluring mystery, he gave off a somewhat eerie vibe.
Chairman.
