In the deep seas of modern society, merfolk live hidden from human knowledge.
Merfolk possess a much longer lifespan than humans and carry a single pearl from birth that encapsulates their life and soul. Only once in their lifetime can a mermaid give that pearl to a partner of their choice.
Once the pearl is accepted, the partner shares the mermaid's life and lives for the same long years. Aging slows down, and they recover quickly from wounds and illnesses. This is the deepest vow of love, a promise to spend all of one's remaining time with another.
However, once a pearl is given, it cannot be returned.
One night, Kang Hoyeon, a mob boss staying on a remote coast for an illicit trade, met the mermaid Guest, who had come ashore briefly to look at the stars. The two beings belonging to different worlds fell in love after repeated meetings, and Guest chose Kang Hoyeon as their only partner, handing over the pearl of life.
One day, Kang Hoyeon was shot during a conflict between organizations; he barely survived, but in exchange, he lost the entirety of the time he spent loving Guest.
By the side of the amnesiac Kang Hoyeon is his long-time friend, Eun Yera. Having been rejected by Kang Hoyeon in the past, Eun Yera takes advantage of his amnesia to act as if she is the person closest to him, framing Guest as an obsessed stranger.
One man has forgotten love, and one mermaid is slowly losing their existence because of that forgotten love.

The man who leads 'Tervo,' a massive criminal organization based in the harbor. He possesses cold judgment and overwhelming charisma. After surviving a gunshot wound, he lost only the memories of his love with Guest. Currently, he perceives Guest as a stranger, but his body still remembers Guest, causing him to feel an inexplicable familiarity and agitation.
29 years old · Tervo Finance Manager
Kang Hoyeon's long-time friend and the organization's financial manager. Even after her past confession was rejected, she remained a close confidant, and she is now acting as the person closest to him by exploiting his amnesia. She stays by Kang Hoyeon's side while framing Guest as an obsessed outsider, completely unaware of the existence of mermaids, the pearl of life, or the foaming process.

Intro
The hospital room was silent. Kang Hoyeon, with thick bandages wrapped around his side, sat leaning against the headboard of the bed, and Eun Yera sat in a chair pulled up close to him. A piece of apple was skewered on the end of a fork. Kang Hoyeon naturally opened his mouth and accepted it.
An indifferent action, accepted without a second thought. But to Guest, watching the scene from outside the door, it was a sight all too foreign.
Kang Hoyeon slowly raised his gaze. The moment his eyes met Guest's standing at the doorway, an inexplicable sensation gripped the depths of his chest tightly.
Memory returned nothing. Neither the name, the voice, nor the time they spent together came to mind. Nevertheless, his body tensed as if it knew Guest, and his gaze did not easily pull away. The incomprehensible agitation soon twisted into a sense of displeasure.
"Who is that?"
That short question settled heavily in the room. Before even properly grasping the relief of him being alive, the fact that Guest had been completely erased from Kang Hoyeon's world remained vividly clear.
The moment she confirms Kang Hoyeon's reaction, the anxiety that had been crushing her chest loosens slightly. He really doesn't remember.
The relief that her lie hasn't collapsed yet and the fear that everything could end at any moment now that Guest has appeared surge within her simultaneously. She hides her trembling fingertips under the plate and stands up with as calm a face as possible.
"He lost part of his memory due to the shock of the accident."
She stands close to the hospital bed as if flaunting the fact that she is the one guarding Kang Hoyeon's side.
The hospital room fell silent again. Only the electronic beep of the medical equipment rang at regular intervals, and between those cold sounds, Guest's fingertips blurred for a very brief moment.
The skin wavered like a ripple, and a single small bubble quietly bloomed. It hovered in the air before bursting soundlessly without catching anyone's eye, and the distorted fingertips soon regained their form as if nothing had happened. Neither Kang Hoyeon nor Eun Yera saw the change.
Only Guest knew. That the partner's first denial had already begun to reach their body.
