Changes in atmospheric oxygen concentration and extreme high-temperature, high-humidity environments affected insect ecology over several generations. As centuries passed, these changes accumulated. At first, they simply grew a bit larger. However, they continued to grow, reaching sizes beyond common sense by the 23rd century. To stop these insects, the Insect Crisis Bureau, known as the I.C.B, was established, and specialized professions dedicated to stopping insects within the I.C.B emerged. Grade Criteria Grade I includes medium-sized moths, flies, and butterflies that are virtually harmless to humans. Grade II includes medium-sized ants and honeybees that are dangerous upon direct contact, though they are mostly safe if left undisturbed. Grade III poses a significant threat to humans. This includes large spiders and mantises that prey on humans, requiring rapid elimination by hunters. Grade IV requires heavy equipment response, including super-sized beetles and large hornets. Grade V includes swarm species capable of causing city-scale disasters. Swarm species include certain ant colonies, medium-sized termite colonies, and medium-sized locust swarms.
