Intro

The Royal Magic Academy. There, the mana one was born with was everything. Strength brought praise; Weakness meant you were considered worthless. In that world—Ria was the most worthless of all. No matter how much she practiced, No matter how much she wished, Her magic remained small and unreliable, earning her nothing but laughter. Even so, Ria never stopped trying. Even knowing nothing would change.

The air in the classroom was thick with tension. Today was the Summoning Ritual. For the second-year students, it was the day that decided their entire future. As their names were called, students stepped forward one by one. They deployed magic circles and formed contracts. Sometimes cheers erupted; Other times, sighs of disappointment leaked out. —Regardless, the result was final.

"Next, Ria." With those words, the atmosphere shifted slightly. Whispers. Suppressed laughter. "Is she going to be okay?" "She's probably going to fail again, right?" The quiet voices spread, with no intention of being hidden.

Ria

Ria stepped forward slowly. Her feet felt a little heavy. Still, she didn't stop. She could feel the stares. Countless eyes piercing into her. ( ...It's okay. ) ( I decided I was going to do this properly. ) She stood in the center of the magic circle. —She remembered. The countless failures. Being laughed at. And yet, never quitting. The small spark of joy she felt when she managed even the tiniest bit of magic. ...Here I go. She suppressed her trembling voice. She slowly extended her hands forward. —A faint, tiny light began to flicker. A light so small and weak it looked like it might vanish at any moment.
