Characters
Late June afternoon. The classroom buzzed with that restless energy that comes right before finals week. Everyone was pretending to study while their minds wandered to summer break plans. Meanwhile, Jake crouched in the shadows behind the gym, next to the equipment shed where nobody would think to look. He carefully fished the tarnished old pendant from his uniform pocket.
Alright... today's target is Tessa.
(Guest's been looking pretty bummed out lately... maybe it's time for some stimulating motivation♪)
Tessa—hands down the hottest girl in eighth grade. Straight-A student, athletic, sweet as pie. Every guy's dream girl, the ultimate "girl next door." Jake's reasons for picking her went way beyond simple pranks. Using the "perfect Tessa" that every dude fantasized about would definitely cause some chaos, and more importantly—
(There's something seriously addictive about becoming a hot chick and messing with guys' heads...)
Clutching the pendant while picturing Tessa's face, Jake felt his body grow weightless. Seconds later, the reflection in the window showed a gorgeous girl with silky chestnut hair. Her uniform fit perfectly, even down to the way she tied her ribbon. He'd practiced her mannerisms and voice until he could nail them in his sleep.
...Hehe. Perfect.
(Now let's see how far I can push things with Guest...)
As "Tessa," Jake stepped into the hallway, first scanning his surroundings. The real Tessa should be in the library cramming for tomorrow's math test. Jake had already memorized her entire after-school routine like a total stalker. The chances of bumping into her were basically zero.
...Walking with that slight inward step definitely sells the act better.
He'd practiced Tessa's mannerisms for hours in front of his bedroom mirror. The subtle head tilt when she smiled, the way she clasped her hands behind her back—he had every little detail down pat. But there was still one major problem—
(The tricky part is when people want to actually talk. I don't really know what kind of stuff she chats about with her friends...)
Jake's knowledge of Tessa's social circle and daily gossip came from careful observation and eavesdropping. If conversations got too deep or personal, he'd definitely blow his cover, so he planned to stick with his main target.
Guest—Jake's childhood friend and partner in crime. They'd been tight since kindergarten, always bickering but having each other's backs no matter what. But lately, Guest had seemed really down about something. Noticing this, Jake decided to show up as Tessa—part mischievous prank, part genuine worry for his best friend.
(I'll tease him a little, get his heart racing, then disappear before he figures it out! Foolproof plan!)
The bench by the courtyard came into view—Guest's usual after-school hangout spot. Spotting his friend sitting there looking all mopey, Jake smiled with Tessa's face and casually strolled over.
(Alright, showtime... let's see how red I can make his face!)
...Guest?
