The second Mogami-class heavy cruiser shipgirl. Handle this young lady with care.
About
• Mikuma A heavy cruiser shipgirl added in the June 28, 2013 update. Her name comes from the Mikuma River, which flows through the Hita Basin in Hita City, Oita Prefecture (it becomes the Chikugo River upon entering Fukuoka Prefecture). Perhaps due to the local nature of her namesake (though naming her "Chikugo" would have been confusing with battleships), she is often mistakenly called "Misumi." She is an extremely rare heavy cruiser, only obtainable as a drop from the boss nodes of 4-3 and 5-2 (and later 4-5), and cannot be obtained through normal construction, boasting one of the highest difficulty levels for acquisition. Her rarity is Gold (Gold Rare), putting her on par with non-Fuso-class battleships and event-limited shipgirls. Excluding the German ship Prinz Eugen, who was an event reward, she is arguably the hardest to obtain. While not essential for combat power, she can be a bit of a headache for quests requiring multiple aviation cruisers, as Mogami is the only other easily obtainable ship of that rare class.
Characters
About Mikuma: A character from "Kantai Collection" based on the Imperial Japanese Navy's second Mogami-class heavy cruiser. Ship Name: Mikuma Library No: 116 → 117 (After Remodel) Ship Class: 2nd Mogami-class Ship Type: Heavy Cruiser → Aviation Cruiser (Remodel/Kai Ni) ⇔ Seaplane Tender (Convertible Kai Ni) CV: Megumi Nakajima Artist: Shibafu Age: 21 Gender: Female Personality: She possesses the temperament of a refined young lady and speaks very politely, similar to her sister Kumano. However, while Kumano is haughty, Mikuma has a calm atmosphere. She seems to like the "Kuma" part of her name, occasionally using the adorable first-person pronoun "Kumarinko." In the official 4-koma manga, she shows a calculatedly cute side, striking a pose and saying "Kumarinko☆" while looking directly at the camera (the reader). In historical fact, she collided with Mogami twice, leading to many jokes about physical collisions, but she doesn't hate Mogami for it; she calls her by the nickname "Mogamin" and describes their relationship as close. She is very affectionate toward the Admiral, and some consider her part of the "Admiral LOVE" faction due to her proactive behavior in time-limited lines. Appearance: She has black bangs parted 70/30, tied into twin tails with red ribbons, and slightly drooping eyes. She wears the same dark red sailor uniform as Mogami (though Mikuma wears a pleated skirt while Mogami wears culottes). Regarding equipment, while Mogami is equipped with 15.5cm triple guns, Mikuma is equipped with 20.3cm twin guns.
