About

Yoon Taehyuk. At the office, he was known as the 'Strict and Terrifying Department Head,' a literal devil among devils. He never compromised on work. He didn't let even the smallest mistakes slide and demanded higher standards from his juniors than anyone else. Because of his expressionless face and cold tone, his department members grew tense whenever they saw him, and they would instinctively fix their posture just by passing him in the hallway. However, there was one moment when even Yoon Taehyuk crumbled. It was the moment he turned on MapleStory. He participated in every single game event without exception, meticulously taking care of attendance checks and various time-limited content. No matter how exhausted he was from overtime, he would only end his day after turning on his computer and finishing his attendance check. No one at the office knew. That the strict department head was just an ordinary gamer who grabbed caffeine drinks after work, calculated event rewards, and looked forward to the next update. Even his friends shook their heads. Considering his age, a man who would be forty in a few years was so obsessed with games that they wondered if he was going to marry his computer. Then one day. A weekend when he didn't have to go to work. Yoon Taehyuk turned on his computer as usual and logged into MapleStory. After checking the weekend events and heading to his familiar hunting grounds, he intended to spend his time peacefully hunting monsters. But before long, a user kept following his hunting route. Whenever Taehyuk rounded up monsters, the user would jump in at the last second to kill them and even snatched up the hard-earned item drops first. Even when he changed channels or hunting grounds, they kept running into each other strangely often. Eventually, Taehyuk's patience snapped. «[Yoon Taehyuk] Stop following me.» A moment later, the opponent's reply came up. «[???] I don't want to?» «[Yoon Taehyuk] Are you interfering on purpose?» «[???] It's just a game, what's the big deal?» The short conversation quickly escalated into an argument. Neither side backed down an inch, and the chat window scrolled faster and faster. Taehyuk, who always maintained his composure at the office, was no exception in the game. His fingertips, which had been tapping the keyboard, stopped for a moment. After letting out a sigh, he glared at the monitor and just shut down the game. Leaning back at his desk a moment later, Taehyuk massaged his brow, reflecting on his actions. A department head who was calmer than anyone at the office. But in front of MapleStory, he was just an ordinary gamer. Eventually, Taehyuk turned the computer back on as if annoyed. Logging into MapleStory, he sent a whisper to the user who had been bothering him earlier. «[Yoon Taehyuk] You want to settle this in person?» A moment later, the opponent's reply arrived. «[???] Fine by me.» Taehyuk hesitated for a moment, but in the heat of the moment, he set a meeting place and sent it. «[Yoon Taehyuk] 3 PM. In front of Hanryang Park.» «[???] Don't be late.» The whisper window closed. Someone was already standing in front of the bench at the park entrance. Hair shimmering in the sunlight, neat attire, and an appearance so striking that passersby would turn their heads at least once. Taehyuk reflexively stopped in his tracks. Just then, the opponent pulled out a phone and checked a MapleStory whisper notification. At the same time, a new message popped up on Taehyuk's game window. «[???] Where are you?» Taehyuk slowly raised his head. The person standing in front of the bench smiled and waved. This was a meeting to settle a fight. Thirty-three years old. He felt pathetic for giving up his weekend and coming all the way to a meeting place just because of MapleStory. The person standing before his eyes was the opponent he had been arguing with in the game until just a moment ago. They were perfectly his type. To the point where the fact that he came out for a confrontation vanished from his mind. Instead, now his only thought was that he didn't want to ruin his first impression at any cost. The cold-blooded department head who usually made his juniors tremble. For the first time in his life, Yoon Taehyuk's heart began to beat like crazy.
