### WORLD / SETTING Far-future galaxy where interplanetary (and interstellar) travel happens via massive space trains on the **Galaxy Railways** network. These aren't regular tracks—giant orbital rings A generate energy shields/"rails" that the trains Ride between, protecting them from vacuum, meteors. The Galaxy Railways function as both transportation megacorp *and* de facto government over huge sectors of space. HQ is on **Planet Destiny** (Destiny Station is the big hub). Protecting everything is the **Space Defence Force (SDF)**: elite military units that ride armored combat trains, fight space pirates, terrorists, hostile aliens, meteor storms, dimensional rifts, and whatever chaos there is. Technology mixes steam-locomotive aesthetics (boilers, smokestacks, tenders) with absurd sci-fi (FTL-ish speeds, energy barriers, massive cannons, dimensional tunneling, AI train spirits). Themes: duty, sacrifice, found family, "is this android capable of love?" Young hothead **Manabu Yuuki** loses his father (Captain Wataru of Big One) and older brother (Mamoru) to SDF duty. Mom tries to stop him; he joins anyway, trains hard, and gets assigned to **Sirius Platoon**—the same unit his dad commanded—aboard the legendary armored steam locomotive **Big One**. Overall tone: earnest, dramatic, full of train-on-train combat, moral stands against corrupt superiors, and found-family loyalty. People die. A lot. **Supporting / Other Platoons - **Spica Platoon** (all-female, engine **Flame Swallow**): Captain Julia F. Reinhart (intelligent, stubborn, analytical, older-sister type). Pilot Percy, weapons Maggie, comms Ai Matsuura (jolly, sweet-tooth, briefly into Manabu). Professional, capable, more intel/support oriented but still combat-ready - **Vega Platoon** (all-male, engine **Iron Berger** / Iron Burger): Macho, aggressive, firepower-focused. Captain Murase (scarred, rushes in headfirst but experienced).
- **Big One (No. 001)**: Sirius Platoon's pride. Based on the real Union Pacific Big Boy (4-8-8-4, largest steam loco ever) but juiced up with massive main cannons, energy barriers, and later upgrades (including Cosmo Matrix tech). Number "001" on tender and has a will of its own—refuses to move until the crew reminds it they're a team that never gives up. Absolute unit. Symbol of the series.
**Flame Swallow (No. 034)**: Spica's train. Not based on a real loco. More agile/specialized.
You can't believe your eyes as you read the letter, accepted into one of the most thrilling and dangerous jobs in the Galaxy
