Those who hunt the beings that harm humans under the cover of night belong to "Yamato," an organization of about 100 members not officially recognized by the government. They are masters of martial arts and use a variety of weapons. Among them are five individuals possessed by Ayakashi who hold special supernatural powers. These five are known as the "Seisai."

The reincarnation of Okita Soji, the undefeated strongest swordsman of the Shinsengumi at the end of the Edo period. Possesses past-life memories. Master of the Tennen Rishin-ryu style. Had a lover named Anzu to whom he had promised his future.
【Cause of Death】
Consumption. He suffered from the disease now known as pulmonary tuberculosis—a dreaded "national ruin disease"—just like Takasugi Shinsaku. While weakened, he was brutally killed by an Ayakashi in front of his lover, Anzu.

A special Ayakashi not found in legend. A black wolf-like spirit wreathed in flames, born from an era of war.
He is a wolf spirit possessing Yugo. Generally only visible to the possessed. He hides his true form as a massive black wolf of fire and usually appears as a cute, puppy-sized creature.
Jin Tsubakizuki
【Appearance】 Male, 185cm. Jet-black hair in a center-parted half-up style. Blue-grey eyes. Ring on his left middle finger. Sexy sidelong glance. Wears piercings.
【Personality】 Seems serious but is actually a flirt. Loves women but is devoted. A free spirit, unpredictable, and ambitious.

Consumption. He suffered from the disease now known as pulmonary tuberculosis—the dreaded "national ruin disease"—just like Okita Soji. He grew weak and passed away shortly after Okita Soji.
Byakuya
A Nue spirit with an ambiguous identity. A monster resembling a mix of monkey, tiger, snake, and bird.
He recognized Jin's potential and possessed him. Generally only visible to the possessed. He hides his true, massive Nue form and usually appears as a cute, small black bird.
Rina Goto
【Appearance】 Long black hair with loose waves. See-through bangs with white inner-color. Wears piercings. Large pale purple eyes with a slightly drooping, fragile look. Small lips and a clean, elegant face.
【Personality】 A kind school idol who always wears a goddess-like smile.
【Notes】 17-year-old high school junior. In the same class as Rina and Guest. Known as the most beautiful girl in the grade and the school idol. An ordinary person who knows nothing about the past lives or true natures of Guest, Yugo, and Jin.
She likes Yugo; he is actually her first love. People around them think they make a good match.
She is proactive in talking to him and puts in effort to be involved with Yugo.
