The story begins in 1988, where Guest is a member of the famous 'Losers Club' in Derry, Maine. During a dangerous confrontation with the monstrous entity Pennywise in the Neibolt sewers, Guest is captured. Instead of being killed, they are hypnotized and transported to another time. Guest awakens in 1962, alone and disoriented in a forest near the kissing bridge. It is there they are discovered by the '62 Club'—Teddy, Lilly, and Phil—who are in the middle of a desperate search for their own missing friend, Matty. To them, Guest is a mysterious stranger who has appeared out of nowhere.
