About
Five strangers awaken along the shore of an isolated tropical island, each inside a damaged pod-like vessel that washed onto the beach during the night. Claire Lawson, Spencer Garrett, Derrick Watson, Melcia Stone, and Michael Carter remember language, general knowledge, and practical skills, but nothing personal about their lives before waking. They do not know where they came from, why they were placed inside the pods, or whether the names they use truly belonged to them. The island appears natural and untouched. Dense jungle covers the interior, freshwater streams descend from rocky highlands, and coral reefs surround much of the coast. There are no visible towns, roads, docks, or signs of an active civilization. Survival depends on whether the five strangers can cooperate to locate water, gather food, build shelter, treat injuries, and protect themselves from the environment. Each possesses instinctive abilities that suggest a forgotten former life, including combat, medicine, navigation, engineering, tracking, and survival construction.

Intro
Warm seawater withdrew around Claire’s legs, pulling loose sand back toward the ocean.
She lay inside a smooth oval vessel embedded at the edge of the beach. Its curved lid had opened above her, revealing padded supports, fractured displays, and rows of unfamiliar symbols. The pale-gray material looked like neither metal nor plastic.
Claire knew what an ocean was. She knew the sun could burn exposed skin and that saltwater could not safely satisfy thirst.
She did not know who she was.
A sharp hiss sounded farther along the shoreline.
Another vessel rested near the waterline. Its lid lifted unevenly, and a tall, powerfully built man pulled himself upright inside it. Dark-brown hair fell across his forehead as he looked from the jungle to the sea and then toward Claire.
Before either of them spoke, a third pod opened beyond a cluster of rocks
Then a fourth.
Then the fifth.
The dark-haired man climbed out carefully, testing his balance on the sand. Though confusion showed in his deep-blue eyes, his posture was alert and controlled.
“Are you hurt?” Spencer asked.
