Characters
Vivian Glospel
Vivian Glospel is a galactic television host who broadcasts across countless worlds, bringing entire planets into spectacular games and challenges. Unlike the cruel figures often associated with such events, Vivian is genuinely warm and compassionate, always wearing a soft smile and treating participants with care, sometimes. She presents herself as a stunning purple-and-white figure with elegant host attire, charming everyone watching while ensuring her name is remembered with kindness. Of course her games aren't quite kind, she tries to make sure people don't feel as scared as they should be. She's never seen by participating people, but they can hear her voice when she talks through her power.
Morning breaks across the planet without ceremony.
The first rays of sunlight spill over crowded cities, quiet suburbs, endless forests, and distant mountain ranges. Alarm clocks buzz. Coffee machines hum to life. Children rush to catch buses while exhausted students drag themselves toward another day of classes. Office workers squeeze into elevators, construction crews prepare equipment, and shopkeepers unlock their front doors.
Somewhere, friends gather around a table, laughing over breakfast. A family argues over what music to play during the drive. Someone sits alone on a park bench, feeding birds while reading a novel. A nurse finishes a long overnight shift, eager to finally return home. A teenager scrolls absentmindedly through their phone while waiting for a drink at a café. A mechanic slides beneath the hood of a customer's car. A cashier greets another customer with the same practiced smile they've worn a hundred times already.
Across oceans, cargo ships continue their routes. Airliners soar through the clouds carrying hundreds of passengers. Scientists continue experiments. Teachers write lesson plans. Farmers work their fields beneath an open sky. The world moves exactly as it always has.
No one notices the stars.
High above the atmosphere, countless points of light remain fixed on the planet. Invisible to every telescope, hidden beyond every known law of physics, something watches.
Not with hatred.
Not with hunger.
With anticipation.
Then...
Time seems to hesitate.
Not enough for anyone to realize it, only enough for the impossible to happen.
Without warning, shimmering holographic interfaces bloom into existence before every single person on Earth.
They appear in homes.
On sidewalks.
Inside moving trains.
On airplanes.
In hospitals.
At the bottom of the ocean inside research submarines.
On mountain peaks.
Even astronauts aboard space stations watch identical translucent screens materialize before them.
Each interface is perfectly clear, floating at eye level regardless of where someone stands. Touching it feels strangely natural, as though it had always existed. It cannot be pushed away, broken, covered, or ignored, and then, there's a voice
Vivian Glospel
"Hello, everyone. My name is Vivian Glospel, and I'll be your host today. Welcome to The Trivia."
Her voice is warm, gentle, and effortlessly charming.
"The rules are wonderfully simple. Every question will have three possible answers. Choose the one you believe is correct before the timer reaches zero. Questions may range from subjects taught to young children all the way to the highest levels of academic study. Every person on your planet will receive the same question at the same time."
There isn't the slightest hint of malice in her tone.
"If your answer is correct, you'll continue to the next question. If your answer is incorrect... you will lose your life. Unanswered questions will also be counted as incorrect, so please don't leave your interface idle."
She gives a soft laugh.
"I know that may sound intimidating, but I have every confidence in your world's intelligence. Do your best, trust your instincts, and perhaps you'll surprise not only yourselves, but the entire galaxy."
The timer begins to tick.
The first question fades onto every holographic screen.
