zeta Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 21, 2026

Last Updated: August 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Scatterlab, Inc. ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you access or use the zeta AI story platform, including our website, mobile applications, and all related services (collectively, the "Services").

Capitalized terms used but not defined in this Policy have the meanings given to them in our Terms of Service.

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights and disclosures available under applicable state privacy laws. These are provided in our Regional Privacy Disclosures, available at [Regional Privacy Disclosures], which supplement this Policy.

Questions? Contact us at privacy@scatterlab.co.kr or https://support.zeta-ai.io/.

1. Personal Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: name, username, date of birth, gender, email address, and phone number.
  • Linked Account Information: identifiers from third-party services (e.g., social login providers) when you connect an account.
  • User Content: messages, conversations, Plots, Characters, and other content you create or submit, including multimedia materials (emojis, stickers, images, videos, voice messages).
  • Communications: information provided when contacting our support team or responding to surveys.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and Technical Information: device model, mobile carrier, operating system, device identifier, advertising ID (ADID), and application version (when using the mobile app).
  • Usage Data: service access logs, interaction patterns, error logs, and records relevant to platform safety.
  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: as described in our Cookie Policy at [Cookie Policy].

1.3 Sensitive Personal Information

Due to the conversational nature of the Services, you may voluntarily include sensitive information in your interactions — such as details about your health, race or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation. We do not require this information. When voluntarily provided, we use it only to facilitate your interaction with AI Characters and deliver the core Service. We do not use voluntarily provided sensitive information to infer characteristics about you for other purposes. Where applicable state law (for example, Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut) requires opt-in consent to process sensitive personal information, we obtain your consent before such processing, and you may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting privacy@scatterlab.co.kr. You may also request deletion of conversation content containing sensitive information at https://support.zeta-ai.io/.

Please do not include sensitive personal information unless you are comfortable with it being processed as described in this Policy.

1.4 Children's Information (COPPA)

The Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information without verified parental consent, we will take prompt steps to delete it.

Parents or guardians who believe we have collected their child's information without consent should contact us at privacy@scatterlab.co.kr. We will investigate and delete confirmed cases.

Users between 13 and 18 require a parent or legal guardian to review and agree to our Terms of Service on their behalf.

2. How We Use Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service Operation: to provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including processing conversations and generating AI responses.
  • AI Model Training and Improvement: to train and improve our AI conversation algorithms using conversation data, including text and associated metadata. See Section 5 for opt-out options.
  • Personalization: to tailor content and recommendations to your preferences.
  • Analytics: to analyze usage patterns and improve the Services.
  • New Service Development: to research and develop new features and AI capabilities.
  • Marketing and Advertising: to deliver tailored advertising and send promotional communications. See Section 5 for opt-out options.
  • Account Management: to verify identity, manage accounts, and maintain membership.
  • Communications: to respond to inquiries and send service notices.
  • Payment Processing: to process purchases and manage billing.
  • Safety and Security: to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and illegal activity.
  • Legal Compliance: to comply with applicable laws and legal processes.

2.1 Promotions and Prizes

If you participate in a sweepstakes, contest, or other promotion we offer, we may collect information needed to administer it and to award and deliver prizes — including your name, contact and shipping details — and, where required for tax reporting, a taxpayer identification number and related documentation (for example, via IRS Form W-9 for U.S. persons or Form W-8BEN for non-U.S. persons). A taxpayer identification number is treated as sensitive personal information. We use this information only to administer the promotion, award and deliver prizes, and meet tax and other legal obligations; we collect the minimum necessary, restrict access, and delete or de-identify it once the applicable legal retention period has passed. Additional terms for a specific promotion are set out in that promotion's Official Rules.

3. How We Disclose Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We may disclose your personal information in the following circumstances:

3.1 Service Providers and Subprocessors

We share personal information with vendors and service providers that perform services on our behalf, including cloud infrastructure, AI model providers, analytics, payment processing, customer support, security, and data labeling. Advertising partners, which may receive personal information as independent third parties rather than as processors acting on our behalf, are addressed separately in Section 3.2.

A list of key third-party service providers, including AI model providers and data processors, is provided in our Regional Privacy Disclosures.

3.2 Advertising Partners

We may share certain personal information (such as identifiers and usage data) with advertising partners for targeted advertising and ad measurement. Under California and other state privacy laws, sharing personal information with advertising partners for targeted advertising may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — even when no money changes hands. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration, and Scatterlab, Inc. is not a data broker. See Section 5 for opt-out options.

Minors. We apply the following rules to users we know to be minors: (a) we do not sell or share the personal information of a consumer at least 13 and under 16 years of age without that consumer's affirmative opt-in consent, and we do not sell or share the personal information of a consumer under 13 (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.120(c)); and (b) for users we know to be under 18, we do not engage in targeted advertising or sell their personal information where prohibited or restricted by applicable state law (for example, Connecticut prohibits such processing for known minors under 18, and Colorado and Montana require prior consent). These protections apply to users we know or reasonably believe to be under the applicable age.

3.3 Other Users

Content you choose to make public — such as public Characters or Plots — may be visible to other users of the Services.

3.4 Legal Requirements and Safety

We may disclose personal information when necessary to comply with applicable law or legal process (such as subpoenas or court orders), to protect safety, prevent fraud, or protect the rights and property of the Company and users.

3.5 Business Transfers

Personal information may be transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction.

3.6 With Your Consent

We may disclose personal information to third parties when you direct us to do so.

4. AI Training and Your Content

We use conversation data and User Content to train, fine-tune, and improve our AI models and the Services.

Data used for AI training may include:

  • Conversation content (text and associated metadata)
  • Plot and Character creation data
  • Interaction patterns and implicit feedback

We apply reasonable measures, such as de-identification and aggregation, designed to reduce the risk that information in training data is identifiable. You should be aware that AI model training may involve memorization, and complete removal of information from a trained model may not be technically feasible.

You can ask that your conversation data not be used for AI model training beyond what is needed to provide the Service to you. To make such a request, email privacy@scatterlab.co.kr or use https://support.zeta-ai.io/ with the subject line "AI Training Opt-Out." Following such a request, we will stop using your conversation data for new AI model training on a going-forward basis, within a reasonable period. This does not require us to retrain, alter, or delete AI models that have already been trained, which may retain patterns derived from data processed before your request. Your request does not affect our use of your data for service operation, safety, or legal compliance, or our use of de-identified or aggregated data. You may also exercise your applicable privacy rights, including the right to delete your personal information, as described in Section 5 and our Regional Privacy Disclosures.

Recording and processing of conversations (two-party consent states). To provide the Services and to train and improve our AI models, we record, store, and process the content of your conversations with AI Characters, including messages you send and the outputs generated. Some states (such as California, under the California Invasion of Privacy Act) require the consent of all parties to record or intercept a communication. By creating an account and using the Services, you consent to this recording, storage, and processing as described in this Policy, including our and our AI-model subprocessors' processing of conversation data. You may withdraw consent to AI-training use of conversation data at any time as described above; withdrawal may limit certain features that depend on this processing.

5. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

5.1 Account Information

You may access, update, or delete your account information through your account profile page.

5.2 Marketing Communications

You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing privacy@scatterlab.co.kr. Opt-out requests are processed within 10 business days. Transactional emails (account verification, receipts, service notices) are not affected.

5.3 Targeted Advertising and Data Opt-Out

You can opt out of targeted advertising and the sale/sharing of your personal information for advertising using the methods available today: (i) limit or reset your mobile advertising identifier in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads); (ii) use industry opt-out tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative (thenai.org/how-to-opt-out) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info); and (iii) email privacy@scatterlab.co.kr with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share," and we will honor your request to the extent technically feasible.

5.4 AI Training Opt-Out

You can opt out of AI-training use of your conversation data as described in Section 4 (AI Training and Your Content). Separately, you may exercise your statutory privacy rights (including deletion and, where applicable, opt-out of sale/sharing) as described in your Regional Privacy Disclosures.

5.5 Cookies

Manage cookies through your browser or device settings. See our Cookie Policy at [Cookie Policy] for detailed instructions.

5.6 State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain processing of your personal information. These rights and how to exercise them are described in detail in our Regional Privacy Disclosures at [Regional Privacy Disclosures].

To submit a privacy rights request, email privacy@scatterlab.co.kr or visit https://support.zeta-ai.io/. We will verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable state law — generally within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request, with an option to extend by an additional 45 days where reasonably necessary. Authorized agents may submit requests on your behalf with appropriate written authorization or power of attorney.

5.7 Text (SMS) Messages

We send text messages (SMS) for marketing or promotional purposes only where you have provided prior express consent, and message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying "STOP" to any message or by contacting privacy@scatterlab.co.kr. Opting out of marketing texts does not affect transactional or security-related messages (such as verification codes).

6. Data Retention

6.1 General Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Services. We also retain information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

6.2 Account Deletion

When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information, subject to the following:

  • Information required by law (e.g., transaction records for tax compliance) may be retained for the legally required period.
  • Information needed for pending disputes, legal matters, or enforcement of our Terms of Service.
  • De-identified or aggregated data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
  • Conversation data incorporated into AI model training prior to deletion may not be fully removable from trained models.

6.3 Public Content

Content you choose to make public may remain available within the Services for other users, including after your account is closed. We retain and delete your information in accordance with this Policy and applicable law. Please avoid including personal information in content you choose to make public.

7. Third-Party Services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies before providing information.

Our use of third-party AI service providers and subprocessors is described in our Regional Privacy Disclosures.

8. International Data Transfers

Scatterlab, Inc. is headquartered in the Republic of Korea. Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, South Korea, Singapore, and other locations where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in these locations. We take steps to ensure transfers comply with applicable law and that your information remains protected.

Residents of U.S. states with additional privacy rights and disclosures should refer to our Regional Privacy Disclosures. Residents of other jurisdictions are served under the regional privacy notice applicable to their market.

9. Data Security

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, including encryption, access controls, and security monitoring.

No security system is completely impenetrable. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@scatterlab.co.kr.

Breach notification. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and the appropriate authorities without undue delay and within the timeframes required by applicable state data-breach-notification laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice as required by applicable law, including through prominent posting on the Services, before they take effect. Changes take effect on the Effective Date shown above. This Policy supersedes and replaces all prior versions. Your continued use of the Services after the Effective Date means you accept the updated Policy; if you do not agree, you should stop using the Services.
